Shan Sa is a French author of Chinese descent, born in 1972 in Beijing. She started writing at the age of seven and published her first book, a poetry collection, when she was just 17. She became famous in the literary world after the publication of her first novel, "The Girl Who Played Go," which won the Goncourt des Lycéens award in 2001.
Shan Sa has written several novels, including "Empress," which tells the story of the last Empress of China, and "The Four Lives of the Willow," which explores the meaning of life through the eyes of a tree. Her works often blend elements of Chinese and Western cultures.
In addition to novel writing, Shan Sa has painted and exhibited her artwork in France, Japan, and China. She has also written several plays and screenplays. Shan Sa is considered one of the most prominent writers of her generation and has won many literary awards, including the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens and the Prix Cazes.
